Acerola is an exotic fruit resembling cherries which can be naturaly found in the tropical areas of the Americas and the Carribean region. Apart from high content of vitamin C, Acerola also contains broad range of anthocyanins. Fruits have a long tradition of being used as an important source of vitamin C in the above mentioned regions. Nowadays Vitamin C is seen as one of the key micronutrients with long list of positive effects on the human organism. The role in immunity and protection of cells against free radicals is well known. However Vitamin C also supports normal production of collagen, a key building block for blood vessels, bones, cartilages, gums, teeth or skin.
