Description

The human body contains twenty times more bacteria than it does human cells; these are made up of friendly and bad bacteria. Bio-Culture contains an active culture of lactic acid producing bacteria (friendly bacteria) to help maintain a healthy intestinal tract. These friendly bacteria are known as probiotics, which the body needs to maintain good health.

The probiotics in Bio-Culture promote the number of friendly bacteria in the digestive system, also making conditions unfavourable for bad bacteria, a common measure in promoting good health. The composition of the intestinal bacteria is kept constant by the lactic acid bacterias production of lactic acid, acetic acid and various anti-bacterial substances that have an inhibiting effect on undesirable forms of bacteria. Lactic acid and acetic acid reduce the pH in the intestine and stimulate peristalsis, which helps the passage of food through the intestine, thus reducing the amount of time that the system is exposed to potentially harmful substances such as carcinogens. If bad bacteria overrun the friendly the results can be candida (thrush), flatulence, painful stomach and diarrhoea.

Bio-Culture is beneficial for maintaining a healthy digestive system at times of stress, holiday travel, over-indulgence, for individuals who take the contraceptive pill and after courses of antibiotics. With increasing age there is a tendency towards a reduced lactic acid bacteria content in the intestinal tract which can be one of the reasons that elderly individuals often have poor digestion and stomach discomfort.

Taking 1-3 capsules of Bio-Culture per day is recommended. If taking during antibiotic treatment, allow three hours after each dose before taking Bio-Culture, since lactic acid bacteria are sensitive to the effects of antibiotics.

The bacteria in Bio-Culture are encapsulated in a polysaccharide matrix, unaffected by the acidity of the stomach, and so pass into the gut where they are released. Many probiotics fail because they cannot withstand the adverse stomach environment in sufficient numbers. Bio-Culture is specially designed to be stable at room temperature. The cultures are freeze-dried and presented in a hermetically sealed tube for added freshness. Bio-Culture is manufactured to pharmaceutical standard and provides 10 billion bacteria per capsule with excellent bioavailability. Other capsule formulations on the market need to be stored in a fridge (else bacteria numbers decline) and so cannot be used for foreign travel and contain far fewer numbers of bacteria, typically 0.1 to 2 billion that may be reduced to ineffective amounts on passage through the stomach. The unique encapsulation of the bacteria in Bio-Culture ensures effective numbers of LAB are released into the small intestine.

There are many scientific papers that show the benefits of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis (the components of Bio-Culture), and their superior activity and survival in the conditions of the digestive system. There are also studies relating to the encapsulation technology used in Bio-Culture.

There are no known drug interactions or contra-indications.
